DJ Mustard is getting paid. After crafting infectious hits for Tyga, 2 Chainz, YG and others, the Los Angeles-based producer has signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label.

In an interview with Hot 97, DJ Mustard reiterated that he didn’t sign a production deal with the storied label. The hit-maker is an artist on Roc Nation, but he will also produce music for his labelmates and the CEO, himself.

"I got a beat in the safe, just waiting [for him]," said Mustard when asked if he plans to collaborate with Hov.

As an artist, the producer wants to bring the party back to hip-hop, like his idol Lil Jon did during the crunk era.

"All the hip-hop DJs is going to EDM, because that's where all the money's at," he explains. "I feel like we need a new hip-hop DJ. We need a new Fatman Scoop, a new Lil Jon. Ain't nobody doing that s--- no more."

The conversation then switched over to Trinidad Jamescontroversial remarks about the state of New York hip-hop. Although he doesn’t co-sign James’ comments, Mustard said he’s willing to help New York rappers make better music.

"I grew up on Dipset," he stated. "So, yeah, I’m with that."

When asked if he’s interested in working with Kendrick Lamar and the TDE family, the producer said that was a no-brainer.

"Of course," he said. "I heard the music that Kendrick is doing right now is really like my type of music. You know like DJ Quik -- the basslines, the 808s."

DJ Mustard, born Dijon McFarlane, credits Lil Jon for his creative production style.

"I listen to a lot of Lil Jon," he said. "He had a real strong influence. When I started back in the days, I was just producing because [YG] needed beats."

One interesting note: Although his name his DJ Mustard, he doesn’t like the tasty yellow condiment. "I don't even eat mustard," he said. "That s--- is nasty."
