DJ Drama on the Drake and Meek Mill Rap Feud: ‘I Was Put In an Awkward Position’ [VIDEO]

When Drake and Meek Mill engaged in their infamous rap feud in 2015, DJ Drama’s name popped up as the guy who instigated the lyrical diss-a-thon. Not so said the Gangsta Grillz mixtape creator.

During his interview with Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, DJ Drama put everything to rest regarding his involvement in the feud. According to him, there is no story to tell. In fact, the 38-year-old DJ and producer tried to prevent the beef from happening.

Drama explained that Meek thought Drake was dissing him on his song “R.I.C.O.” with the line, “The girl of your dreams to me is probably not a challenge.” At that time, the Philly spitfire was dating Nicki Minaj, who Drake was rumored to have dated in the past.

Drama said he told Meek that Drizzy wasn't dissing him. "Those weren’t technically his bars," he said. "Then everything from there turned.”

From there, Meek went on Twitter to reveal that Drake used a ghostwriter for his “R.I.C.O.” verse and that's when the beef erupted. Then Funkmaster Flex leaked reference tracks of Drizzy's alleged ghostwriter Quentin Miller rapping Drake's verses.

“I was gonna tell y’all go ask Flex where he got the records from,” said Drama. “He didn’t get them from me. Go ask Meek where he got the records from. He didn’t get them from me."

"I definitely wouldn’t have did that (leak the reference tracks). It goes against my business. It goes against my ethics," he continued. "I had a conversation with my man about something and from there it just blew out of proportion.”

"Clearly, my name got thrown in the mix, so I was put in an awkward position. Outside of that, that’s it. It's old news," he finished.

Elsewhere in the interview, DJ Drama talks about his upcoming new project, Quality Street Music 2, which is set to hit digital stores on July 22.
