Chris Rock Says Andre 3000 Is ‘Hard At Work’ on a Solo Album
Andre 3000 is "hard at work" for his next album -- at least according to Chris Rock.
In an Instagram post, the veteran comedian shared a photo of himself, Dave Chappelle, D-Nice, Jack White, Jarobi White and Andre, with the caption that they were all "hard at work on the new Andre 3000 album."
It's been thirteen years since OutKast dropped the Grammy Award-winning double album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which featured Andre's musically-eclectic individual songs on The Love Below; and fans have been itching for a solo album from the rapper. But 3000 has been notorious for working on music without putting it out. There's a good chance that Three Stacks got the rap bug after dropping a well-received verse on Erykah Badu's "Hello," late last year. He also made an appearance on Kanye West's "30 Hours."
Back in February, he said that he'd "like to put out some kind of music project," in an interview with Billboard, but then he followed up with "we’ll see." Stop playing with our emotions, Andre. Please? His erstwhile partner, Big Boi has already hinted that he's in the midst of working on a new album with his original producers, Organized Noize.
Of course, Rock is a comedian--so this could've been a tongue-in-cheek jab at the notoriously reclusive rapper.
Whether Rock is trolling or not, fans are definitely ready to hear some more music from the OutKast member. "If this andre 3000 album is actually happening i know i can die happy," read one hopeful fan. But of course, a few are still skeptical. "Does anyone really think 3000 is releasing a new album been hearing he's 'working on new music' for the past decade," read another tweet. True, true.
