Boosie Badazz Reflects On Life in ‘God Wants Me To Ball’ Video
A prison bid, a cancer battle and a sibling stealing money from him. Boosie Badazz has seen a lot, and he talks about it in his new song and video "God Wants Me To Ball." The cut is off the rapper's forthcoming album BooPac that drops Dec. 15.
The clip begins with the Louisiana rhymer sitting at the edge of a bed rocking a designer red robe. From there, you'll see some old footage of a young Boosie in the studio spitting passionately.
Eventually, the singer London Jae appears since he handles the hook responsibilities. Then Boosie takes it from there and spits introspective rhymes in an empty basketball court and on that same bed. He also exchanges his red robe for a yellow one.
Lyrically, the 35-year-old talks about being blessed and having God pull him through numerous trials.
"I dreamed this on my desk back in middle school / Plenty money, plenty women, pretty swimming pools / Know he want me here if cancer couldn't finish you / Look how he make me stand out when I'm in the room," he spits.
Besides, London Jae, Yung Bleu is featured on the BooPac album, as is B Will and Lee Banks.
Back in April, Boosie talked about the title of the album, and why he named it after one of the most beloved figures in hip-hop.
"I know it's going to be a big old thing but you know, it's in my heart," he explained. "That's what I want to do. It's a double-disc, 26 songs, because I'm my generation's Tupac. A lot of people didn't grow up on Tupac. A lot of people didn't grow up on Biggie. Those who love that kind of music grew up on me. That's one reason [I'm naming the album that]."
"Another reason, it's like the Pac music is forgot about now," Boosie added. "That real music that touch you. That feel like he was brought into your household with you. Like he was your cousin. That music is forgot about right now."
