Big Boi released his first solo album last summer and now the OutKast rapper is focusing his energies on musical collaborations with unlikely artists, such as indie rock band Modest Mouse.

In a series of tweets this week, Big Boi announced that he has been recording new music with the Oregon-based group. "Me and @mouche1 in the studio workin with Modest Mouse on their new album Turnt up!" he wrote. "Shout out to Issac and the crew!" The initial news was followed by two shorter tweets, "Real Rock Star S---!" and "Modest Mousin' it" before Big Boi revealed that he had already put in a few days work on the group's upcoming album.

"Been camped out in the Lab with Modest Mouse all week, workin on the new mouse LP, coolest cats ever," he continued. "Long Live The Funk." Details surrounding the collaboration have been scarce, and so far there has been no title announced for the album. Both Big Boi and Modest Mouse were performers at the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival, in Chicago, which might explain their unlikely musical partnership.

Big Boi's solo debut 'Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty' was released in July 2010 and since then the ATLien has continued to pop up in the studio with non hip-hop artists. In March, he revealed another surprising collaborating with Swedish electronic group Little Dragon, who are scheduled to release their third album 'Ritual Union' in July.

No word yet on a release date for Big Boi's sophomore album, which he has tentatively titled 'Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader.'
