Beyonce, Usher & Black Eyed Peas Win at NRJ Music Awards
Beyonce and Usher were feeling the love from Europe, as both took home trophies at the 12th annual NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France on Saturday (Jan. 22).
Usher, who was pulling double duty in the country making stops on his OMG tour, grabbed the International Male Artists of the Year Award, after a stellar 2010 that included the release of his sixth album 'Raymond v. Raymond.' "Thank you NRJ Awards for the International Male Artist of the Year Award!" he tweeted.
Beyonce and Lady Gaga won a collective Music Video of the Year award for 'Telephone,' but were not on hand to accept. The eclectic video, directed by Jonas Akerlund, is a modern take on the 1991 film 'Thelma & Louise.' Like the main characters in the movie, Beyonce and Gaga set-out on a visually pleasing road trip adventure.
Other winners of the night included The Black Eyed Peas who won for International Group/Duo of the Year and Concert of the Year, Flo Rida nabbed the Hit of the Year award for the single 'Club Can't Handle Me,' and fan favorite Justin Bieber won the International Revelation of the Year award.
Created in 2000, the NRJ Music Awards is a joint partnership between the NRJ radio station and TF1 television network. Winners are tallied based mostly on fans votes as well as input from a jury established by the NRJ.
