A Mural of Prodigy Goes Up in New York City’s Queensbridge [PHOTOS]
It's been a little over two weeks since the untimely passing of Mobb Deep's Prodigy, and his community in Queens, N.Y. is still paying tribute.
The latest to do so are the artists Jeff Henriquez and Eli Lazare, who crafted a mural of the beloved rapper in his Queensbridge stomping ground. Lazare also painted a mural of Nas in the very same housing project a while back.
Clearly, Henriquez and Lazare nailed the mural, as it bears an almost exact likeness of P and shows him putting up both arms and revealing the words "Mobb Deep."
"His deep and meaningful lyrics inspired and influenced many young rappers and followers," said the artists about why they chose to paint the rapper.
Although actually born on Long Island, Prodigy moved to the Queensbridge Houses as a teen and repped the QB as hard as his partner Havoc or any of its other residents and by creating such memorable verses, he followed The Bridge's strong lyrical legacy set by artists like MC Shan, Roxanne Shanté and of course, Nas.
