2015 American Music Awards Nominees Include the Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith & More

The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj and Sam Smith are just some of the artists who picked up multiple nominations for the 2015 American Music Awards.

The awards show nominees were revealed Tuesday morning (Oct. 13), with the Beauty Behind the Madness creator coming in right behind Taylor Swift with five nods. Abel Tesfaye's nominations include Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist in the R&B/soul category, Song of the Year for "Can't Feel My Face" and Album of the Year for his new LP, Beauty Behind the Madness.

Meanwhile, Sam and Nicki follow with four each including both competing in the Artist of the Year category. Nicki will also go toe-to-toe with Drake and Fetty Wap for the Favorite Hip-Hop/Rap category. Rihanna, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce are vying for Favorite Female R&B/Soul Artist.

This year's must-see hip-hopera Empire also gains a nomination in the Top Soundtrack category and will battle against Pitch Perfect 2 and Fifty Shades of Grey.

The 2015 American Music Awards will air from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 22 on ABC. Jennifer Lopez is set to be the night's host and will also perform.
