Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) has announced that there's a new Black Star album on the way, and it's produced by legendary beatmaker, Madlib.

BlackstarTalib Kweli and Mos Def—released one of the most revered hip-hop albums of the past two decades with their 1998 album, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star, their one and only album.

Since that time, both emcees have etched their names in the upper echelon of rappers, creating impactful legacies anchored by perceptive lyricism, creativity and trendsetting with albums like Black on Both Sides and Quality respectively. Even still, that didn't stop fans from wishing the pair would get back together to release another Black Star album. Now, it seems that the hope is being realized.

According to HipHopDX, during a Madlib DJ set in Denver, Yasiin said he and Kweli have an album with the producer.

“New Black Star with Madlib, Talib Kweli, Yasiin, coming soon!” Yasiin can be heard yelling in a clip uploaded by a fan to Reddit.

Although Yasiin announced his retirement last year, a few months ago, he admitted that he'd always be creating in an interview with the Associated Press following his performance at Atlanta's One Musicfest.

"If I get a chance to do it again in another way, I'll just give it my all. I'm always going to be creating... I'm not going to disappear if I stop rap or doing it in a certain type of way," he said.

Then, late last month, Talib posted a picture of Yasiin and Kanye writing notes with the caption "2018 is looking good..." igniting speculation that maybe new music was in the works for the trio, who'd previously worked together on two standout tracks from Kanye's classic debut, College Dropout, "Get Em High" and "Two Words."

At any rate, we'll have to see what's in store for Black Star as more info is released.
