Willow Smith’s ‘Whip My Hair’ Tops Charts
Willow Smith has "whipped her hair" all the way up the charts, earning the 10-year-old the dubious honor of having the highest debut single of the year on the Billboard's digital song chart. Smith's 'Whip My Hair' landed at the No. 4 spot on Billboard's Hot Digital Sales Chart while nabbing the No. 1 spot on iTunes video chart.
Smith's music video is You Tube's top viewed video in the past 30 days, and has been streamed 11 million times on VEVO since its premiere on October 18. Fans of the song have also uploaded their own videos on You Tube which have been viewed over 45 million times since the launch of the single in September.
With all this success, the youngest member of the Smith clan, which includes father, Will Smith, mom, Jada Pinkett Smith, and brother's Jaden, prides her strong work ethic for getting a record deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation label. "It felt like all the hard work paid off, mostly that," Smith said in an interview. "Like all the hard work that I've done, like recording 'Whip My Hair' - it's paid off."
