Whitney Houston's mother will not be supporting the Lifetime biopic about the late singer's life.

Cissy Houston is critical about the film since neither she nor any of her family members were asked to participate in its making. "Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family's objections," she wrote in a statement submitted to 'Entertainment Tonight.'

She continues that those behind the creation of the biopic didn't even know the famed chanteuse.

"No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby," she said. "In the two years since Whitney's death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn't know her. We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please let her rest."

Additionally, Houston's family will not release any of her music to be used in the movie. The songs will be sung by veteran R&B singer Deborah Cox. Yaya Dacosta, of 'America's Next Top Model' fame, will be playing the beloved artist. The biopic will be directed by Angela Bassett.
