A&E is relaunching its popular Biography series by delving into the unsolved murders of rap icons The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Although the Tupac docuseries doesn't have an official release date, Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G. is set to premiere next month.
The new trailer features fellow rap icons Jay-Z and Nas quoting Biggie's lyrics. "He's the greatest who ever touched the mic," declares Nas.
The documentary, directed by Mark Ford, is the first biography to be authorized by Biggie's estate and, according to A&E, will be the most personal and revealing documentary about the late Christopher Wallace that anyone has ever seen. With interviews from his widow Faith Evans, his mother Voletta Wallace, his close friend Lil Cease and Sean "P-Diddy" Combs, the A&E Biography special will explore the people and places that shaped Biggie's life including his youth hustling on the streets of Brooklyn, NY.
Twenty years after his death, this intimate documentary will also focus on Faith Evans as she recalls the eventful memories that formed her experience as the rap icon's widow. In addition, the special will address his still unsolved and shocking murder on the streets of Los Angeles as well as his feud with Tupac Shakur.
Who Killed Tupac?, the A&E special which has yet to announce a release date, focuses on the investigation 20 years after the death of the prolific rapper. Each episode will follow civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump as he conducts an investigation into the 1996 killing and lack of due process.
Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G. will air on Monday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. ET on A&E.
