Celebutante Kim Kardashian is reportedly preparing to join her former friend Paris Hilton in launching a career in music.

The 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' starlet was spotted leaving a Manhattan recording studio last week, and according to TMZ, Kardashian's songwriter/producer is none other than hyphenated hitmaker The-Dream, who has allegedly been axed from his position as Executive Vice President of Island Def Jam Records.

The 'Umbrella' writer/producer, who in addition to losing his job also split from wife Christina Milian, is one of the industry's most sought-after collaborators, having crafted career-makers for Beyonce, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and many more. While details regarding the project are still vague, The-Dream is said to have begun work on the album, and, according to TMZ's source, the 30-year-old socialite has "got a really good voice."
