Taylor Swift Apologizes to Nicki Minaj After MTV VMAs Twitter Clash
Nicki Minaj is receiving a boatload of apologies. After her man Meek Mill apologized for his Twitter tirade against Drake, now Taylor Swift is trying to get in The Pinkprint creator's good graces since they clashed on the social network earlier this week.
The pop star and Minaj almost set the Twitterverse on fire with a tweet beef after Swift felt the rapper was taking aim at her while venting about her "Anaconda" video missing from the 2015 MTV VMAs Video of the Year category. Swift has come to her senses and tweeted an apology. "I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki. @NICKIMINAJ," she wrote earlier today (July 23).
Believing she was snubbed, Minaj sounded off on Twitter when the MTV Video Music Awards nominations were revealed. She felt her “Anaconda” video -- a record-breaking one at that -- and Beyonce-assisted "Feeling Myself" -- should've been included in the nominees. One of her tweets provoked a response from the 1989 creator.
"If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year," the Queens MC wrote, which prompted Swift to clap back with: "@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot."
Swift wasn't named in Minaj's initial tweet, making her words seem every more surprising. Minaj was venting about how talented women of color continue to get overlooked when the accomplishments should speak for themselves. Swift missed the entire point.
Thankfully for pop fans, Nicki Minaj accepted the apology and made sure her true feelings toward Swift were clear with one tweet: "That means so much Taylor, thank you. @taylorswift1."
Meek Mill could really learn a lesson from his boo's peacemaking skills after his recent shots at Drake.
