SZA was completely shut out at the 2018 Grammy Awards despite her five nominations. Many fans thought she was a shoo-in to win the Best New Artist award at the very least, but alas, that went to pop singer Alessia Cara.

Nearly a month after the Grammy snub, SZA is mostly reflective about coming home empty-handed. In an interview with GQ, the TDE artist says that she's not going to let the loss affect her creative process moving forward.

"Like, I came a really long-ass way. I didn’t imagine this album doing much anyway," she said. "I was so grateful to even have been honored by being nominated and having so many people fuck with my music."

SZA also didn't know how to react to social media furor over her losing at the Grammys. It was a bit overwhelming and she didn't know how to address it with her fans.

"I just didn’t know how to take it. I didn’t say anything, I didn’t post, because I’ve never had to deal with anything I really believed in wholeheartedly, or invested in, and went through something that publicly before," she said. "I wanted to be honest as fuck, and if today I’m just mad as hell, I don’t want to say something that reflects me being mad as hell. But I definitely feel blessed now. I also don’t feel compelled to explain myself."

In the end, the Ctrl singer is going to put the Grammy loss behind her and move forward with her already stellar music career.

"I didn’t make my album [CTRL] with the Grammys in mind, and I’m definitely not gonna make my second one with the Grammys in mind," she said. "I’m just gonna make really good fucking music and just try to touch people."
