Solange received her first Grammy nomination ever this year for her stunning album, A Seat At The Table, and now she has her first Grammy.

Solo won for Best R&B Performance in a category that also included BJ The Chicago Kid, Rihanna, Musiq and Ro James. Of course, she should've also been nominated for best Urban Contemporary or Best R&B Album (can anyone even tell the categories apart?) and even Album of the Year for what was one of the most thought-provoking, musically stunning albums of the year, in any genre.

Still, this is a significant win for Solo and artist who refuse to compromise their artistic vision to fit inside of a convenient box. So, congrats to her on a win well deserved. Check her out on the current cover of ELLE and watch the video for "Cranes in the Sky" below.
