Solange Releases Short Film Chronicling Her Work on ‘A Seat At The Table’ [WATCH]
Solange has shared a short film, Beginning Stages - A Look Into Solange's Songwriting Process & Jam Sessions That Shaped ASATT, which chronicles the beginning stages of her work on her recently released acclaimed album, A Seat At the Table.
The mini-doc is just over 11-minutes, and shows Solange in jam sessions with musicians including Sampha, as well as working closely with her engineers and as she writes and taps out melodies on the keyboard. Her son, Juelz also makes several appearances in the film, which features songs that didn't make the album.
"I'm really excited to share with you a little film that documents the early stages of my songwriting, jam sessions, and collaborations of #aseatatthetable," she wrote on Facebook of the film which was shot in Louisiana, New Orleans and New York, dating back to 2013. "3 years ago, I moved into a small house in the middle sugar cane field in New Iberia, La with just my engineers @mixedbyblue and @audio_nino to finish all of the lyrics as well as structure and produce the jam sessions that have now become the songs on the album."
The film shows the singer/songwriter working on several standout tracks on the dense project, including "Mad," "Don't Touch My Hair," "Don't You Wait" and "Where Do We Go."
