‘SNL’ Pokes Fun at O.J. Simpson in Hilarious ‘First Date’ Sketch [VIDEO]
O.J. Simpson was released from prison on Oct. 2, so it was the perfect opportunity for Saturday Night Live to poke a little fun at the former NFL great. In a hilarious sketch called “First Date,” SNL alum Kenan Thompson plays O.J. Simpson who meets someone on the Bumble dating app, and his date (played by Gal Gadot) is unaware about his past.
During their dinner, his date (Gadot) is asking O.J. various questions, of which he tries to be aloof with his answers. At one point, when a woman approaches their table and calls him "disgusting," O.J. recovers by telling his date, “I’m sad to admit this, but when you look like I do in this country, people treat you differently.”
In another wink-and-a-nod moment, O.J. is wondering why the waiter gave him a plastic knife to cut his steak with. Later, when Amelia asks O.J. why has he been single for so many years, he responds, "it's a mystery."
As the couple leaves the restaurant, O.J. tells Amelia that he wants to show her his license plate. He then turns to the camera and says, "I still got it."
We don't know if the real-life O.J. Simpson has gone on any blind dates since his release from prison. But this hilarious sketch gives us an idea of how awkward that could be.
Fun Fact: O.J. Simpson once hosted Saturday Night Live on Feb. 25, 1978. The musical guest was Ashford & Simpson.
