Skepta Teams Up With Nike for Dope Air Max 97 Collaboration [PHOTO]
U.K. rapper Skepta joins a long list of rappers who are collaborating with sneaker brands to design their own shoes. Skepta has partnered with sneaker giant Nike for an upcoming Air Max 97 collaboration.
The grime star went on his Instagram page to unveil his Air Max 97 shoe and it looks awesome. Dubbed the “SkAir,” the blackout silhouette boasts an iridescent, copper-tone curves on the upper with hits of yellow in the air bubble unit. Skepta said the shoe was inspired by “the color palette of Morocco" and the “palette of the 1999 Air Tuned Max.”
Overall, Skepta's Air Max 97 collabo sneaker is a must cop.
“I have been wearing Air Max for so long, since I was seven playing around in the estate; I feel like I know my Air Max well," said Skepta in a statement about the collaboration (via The FADER). "Air Max is from when we were running the streets, it was comfortable to wear in London, whether you were going out to a club or kicking a ball in the streets. Those kinds of things stick in my mind from the young, magical, fantasy years of my life.”
Skepta’s “SkAir” Air Max 97 collaborative sneaker will be available in select stores and online on Sept. 2 -- and will no doubt sell out.
Among the list of rappers with sneaker collaborations include, Future, Big Sean, Joey Bada$$ and Andre 3000. Of course, Rihanna is killing the sneaker game with her Fenty line for Puma and the Weeknd's new kicks just dropped.
