Shawty LoATL rapper Shawty Lo and his Loving Our Little Ones (L.O.L.O) Foundation will participate in the American Diabetes Association's annual Step Out and Walk campaign for the second time. The rapper, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 2001, will appear in public service announcements for the 2010 campaign, in addition to participating in the annual fund raising diabetes walk.

"It was a great walk last year. It was a good look, so I'm here and I'm ready to do it again," he said. "I'm doing great now. I found out I was a diabetic in 2001; I just had a hard time to coping with it. Like I was in denial like 'I ain't no diabetic.' It took time getting used to stuff like getting on a new diet and watching my sugar and stuff like that. Once I got the hang of it, it was no problem, good exercise and you're fine."

The rapper also offered some tidbits on his upcoming projects, including a new mixtape with DJ Scream. He explained that his performance schedule has kept him from spending steady time in studio, but said that he intends to make up for it this year. "I ain't gonna say that I let my fans down musically, but I just feel like I let my fans down with not working as consistently and producing like I'm supposed to be and putting out music," he said. In addition to the upcoming mixtape, Shawty Lo will also release a full length studio album later this year.

Shawty Lo's second studio album 'I Am Carlos' will feature guest spots from Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Trey Songz, Bun B. and Rick Ross.
