Sometimes tragedy can really drive a person and give them a level of perseverance that they didn't have before.

That could be the case with rapper Scotty ATL, because he just released his new album Daily Bread and completed it while his pal Bankroll Fresh was murdered, plus, four other friends.

In an interview with XXL, Scotty said this LP is a lot more personal than his previous releases, and he had to complete it under an incredible amount of turmoil.

"It feels wonderful to get this project out of my body, mind and spirit," he said. "I had to overcome a lot just to get it out. With this particular project, I wanted for people to see my growth as an artist and as a lyricist."

"I wanted my fans to be able to follow the story of who I am as a person, and what I went through," Scotty added. "Some people didn't want me to pull these stories out. Some wanted me to go the regular route and put out a hot album with singles."

The Daily Bread album consists of 12 tracks and has several featured artists, the most well-known being Ty Dolla $ign. Additionally, Mr. ATL said he's not worried about getting a hit record and isn't even concerned with dropping a single the conventional way.

In other words, the B.O.B. affiliated rapper said he's establishing his own rules when it comes to rolling out his project, and he refuses to cater to regular music industry methods.

"I don't think I need to follow the blueprint of the music industry," said Scotty. "I blaze my own trail, just like I have always have."
