Prodigy is serving up delectable prison fare in his new book, Commissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook. The idea of the book came from the Mobb Deep member’s 2007 prison stint. During his incarceration, Prodigy pay close attention to what he ate in prison because of his sickle cell anemia.

"I couldn't afford to get sick in prison," he writes. "My sickle cell is no joke, so I couldn't eat poorly or not exercise. And everything in jail is designed to do the exact opposite."

According to NPR, the book contains recipes with items mostly found in prison like Ramen noodles and various canned products. "It's not all healthy stuff," Prodigy told NPR. "There's a lot of butter and seasonings — it's as healthy as I could get in the prison system."

Although Prodigy acknowledges that his recipes aren't the healthiest - you have to remember they were created in prison - but they are useful if you are on a extreme food budget. One recipe is called "Prison Surprise," which is a mixture of ramen noodles, Doritos, Jack Mack (canned mackerel) and hot sauce. Uh, yum?

But the book isn't all about recipes, Prodigy details his time behind bars and how cooking created a genuine camaraderie among the other prisoners. "It helps people get along," he said. "Sometimes if you've got a group of people in there that are cool with each other, we'd order a chicken [from the commissary] together or make a dinner."

Prodigy's book, Commissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook, is available now at Amazon.com.
