Pharrell Williams is making one tech company very happy right now. The Grammy-winning producer has been named Chief Creative Officer of ROLI, a U.K. music technology startup founded by Roland Lamb.

ROLI is a company that is making next-level music products that are digital, portable and accessible to both novice and veteran music creators.

“Music touches all of us, and for a long time I’ve been passionate about finding ways to share the power of music with more people," said Pharrell in a statement (via Variety). "When I met Roland and ROLI, I immediately felt we were working towards exactly the same goals, and so I’m super excited that we’re kicking off this partnership.”

In addition to being the CCO, Pharrell will invest and also be a co-owner of ROLI. The first product under the new partnership is “Happy by Pharrell” studiopack in ROLI’s “Noise” app, which is demoed below. What's cool about the app is that you can use your smartphone (or ROLI instrument) as a beat machine and tinker with the vocals, synths and bass lines to recreate P's hit or make a new song.

Other innovative ROLI products include Seaboard and BLOCKS, a lightpad music creator that combines a physical interface with an app to help with your creativity.
