Parkland Shooting: Lil Yachty, Drake Agree Coach Aaron Feis Deserves ESPY Courage Award [VIDEO]
The mass high-school shooting in Parkland, Florida last week certainly has left America in a state of mourning. Among the 17 people who lost their lives in the shooting was football coach Aaron Feis.
Feis was a beloved coach at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and during the shooting, Feis was killed while shielding students from the gunman’s bullets.
In honor of his courageous act, there’s a consensus that he should be honored for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2018 ESPY Awards.
Rapper Lil Yachty is one of those people who is pushing for the ESPYs to honor the late coach.
"For someone to do that he had a good heart, he was more than just a coach," he told TMZ Sports. In my eyes...he's a superhero. You becoming greater than man."
"Honestly, bro, if the ESPYs didn't do it -- that’s a problem," he added.
Drake also shared the same sentiments when asked by TMZ out in Los Angeles. Drizzy, who has hosted the ESPYs in the past, unanimously agreed that coach Feis should get the courage award.
The 2018 ESPY Awards is scheduled for July 11 and the nominations haven't been announced as of yet.
Meanwhile, a funeral service was held for Aaron Feis last Thursday (Feb. 22). At the funeral, Broward Sheriff Scott Israel saluted Feis for his heroic act.
"Feis had no gun, no rifle. And yet he ran toward helping students," he told mourners. "He was just such a great individual."
