Notorious B.I.G. Honored by Brooklyn Store With Limited Edition Grocery Bags
Today is the 20 year anniversary of the death of The Notorious B.I.G., who was murdered on March 9, 1997 in Los Angeles. And as the tributes pour in, one Brooklyn grocery store is honoring Biggie in a very cool way— with limited edition paper grocery bags.
As a child, Biggie (born Christopher Wallace) bagged groceries at Brooklyn’s Met Food Supermarket, and the owners saw fit to honor him today. There are 100 special edition bags at Key Food (the store that replaced Met Food at 991 Fulton Street). The bags are available for purchase on a first come, first served basis. Jed Heuer and his wife Jennifer developed the Biggie Bag idea, and have lived in the area since 2000.
“This project is about paying respect to a legendary artist and sharing a piece of neighborhood history,” Jed told HipHopDX.
