New Jersey Drive (1995) – Best Hip-Hop Movie Soundtracks
Another movie woefully (if maybe deservedly) obscured by the greatness of its soundtrack, 'New Jersey Drive' unfolds like a who’s who of hip-hop in 1995 that is indispensable to any fan of the genre. Ill Al Skratch, Redman, Lords of the Underground, Outkast, Heavy D & The Boyz, Queen Latifah, Keith Murray and Notorious B.I.G. all appear on the first volume, the latter of which with his incredible Total team-up 'Can’t You See.' Volume 2 features Black Moon and Smif-N-Wessun, Naughty By Nature, Biz Markie, Jeru tha Damaja, Mad Lion and Organized Konfusion. It also includes a handful of lesser-known – okay, never-heard-from-again – artists like E. Bros, whose contributions actually outweigh their marquee-name colleagues.
