Maxwell Announces ‘Black Summer Night For Justice’ Concert
Save August 11 on your calendar as R&B singer Maxwell has announced the inaugural "Black Summer Night For Justice" concert. The concert, set to take place at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, will have performances by Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan, R&B group DVSN, and more.
After making the announcement on Twitter, Maxwell said the show is for "celebrating our right to JUSTICE." Presale for the concert starts on Tuesday, April 17, and general sales start on Saturday, April 21.
Maxwell is no stranger to using his singing voice for social justice: the "Pretty Wings" singer teamed up with Harry Belafonte in 2017 for the We Are Here: A Poor People’s Call for Moral Revival, a benefit concert that supported the relaunch of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s final social effort, the Poor People’s Campaign.
A portion of the profits from the"Black Summer Night For Justice" concert will go towards the "Me Too" movement as well as the Southern Poverty Law Center. More artists and organizations are expected to be announced within the upcoming weeks.
