R&B singer Mario made headlines in early October after getting arrested in Baltimore for allegedly assaulting his mother, but now, he's off the hook. Prosecutors have dropped the misdemeanor assault charges against the 24-year-old after his mom, Shawntia Hardaway, changed her story on the witness stand, claiming that she was under the influence when she called police on her son and that he never touched her.

Hardaway initially stated that Mario was "throwing and damaging property" in her Baltimore home, pushing her with his hands and forearms "eight feet into a living room wall, where Ms. Hardaway hit her head on the wall." Mario was subsequently arrested and released on $50,000 bond, facing pending charges for second-degree assault.

But from the start, Mario knew his innocence, with his attorney Billy Murphy stating that he never laid a hand on her and that he "remains committed to helping his mother battle her addiction" to drugs and alcohol. Mario previously attempted to help Hardaway battle her demons, confronting her heroin addiction on an MTV documentary 'I Won't Love You to Death' in October 2007.
