Mariah Carey has confirmed that she is pregnant ... sort of. In a short message on her website, the songbird hinted at being with child but noted that she was waiting to make an official announcement. "I appreciate everyone's well wishes. But I am very superstitious," she wrote on the site Wednesday (August 24) "When the time is right, everyone will know -- even [my publicist] Cindi Berger." Berger assented Carey's words, telling People Magazine, that the story will be confirmed "when the time is right for her and Nick to announce something."

Rumors of a possible pregnancy have been going on for months but escalated earlier this week after footage of Carey, sporting a noticeable baby bump, during a Sao Paulo, Brazil concert, hit the news circuit. Additionally, the 40-year-old was also believed to have dropped out of a new Tyler Perry film due to her pregnancy. Despite all these signs pointing to the obvious, even Carey's husband of two years, Nick Cannon, won't fess up to the news. "I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again -- when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her," the 29-year-old said on his radio show on New York City's 92.3 FM.

Carey and Cannon wed in a secret ceremony in 2008. After a short courtship, the two decided to make it official only announcing the news of both their nuptials and relationship after the fact. "We really do feel we are soulmates," Carey said in an interview. "I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me." This will be the first child for both Carey and Cannon.
