Luke James: ‘I Want You’ Video Has Singer Dripping Wet
Crooner Luke James, who snagged a spot in Beyonce's 'Run the World (Girls)' video, showcases his smooth and soulful vocals in the visuals for his new single, 'I Want You,' a song featured on his debut Def Jam release '#Luke.'
In the clip, the New Orleans native sheds light on a budding romance he wants to ensure blossoms. "The funny thing about this heart of mine is that it knows what it wants," he sings. "But see, the crazy thing is my mind tries to deny it/ But girl I can't fight what I know... I want you."
James hits all the right high notes here, and a series of emotions are written all over his face as he shows signs of struggle, joy and even some waterworks that don't drip directly from his tear ducts. But the message in the video is delivered: he wants the girl of his dreams.
The ballad kicks up halfway through when some hip-hop flair is added to the beat. Before the visuals commence, rain falls, the singer is soaking wet and he embraces his lady love.
The songwriter, once a member of the duo Luke & Q, recently performed alongside Robin Thicke at New York City's Highline Ballroom on Dec. 9. During his show, the Def Jam signee, who also inked a deal with producer Danja's New Age Rock Stars imprint, fire alarms and sprinklers were activated prompting the FDNY to make an appearance. No harm was done but its apparent James is kicking up the heat as he makes a name for himself on the R&B scene.
'#Luke,' his forthcoming LP, is set for a 2012 debut.
