"Hello, is it me you're looking for?" That's probably what Lionel Richie is singing to the IRS these days!

Richie may be riding high after his country-crossover album Tuskegee debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart last week, but the IRS is trying to bring the singer down! The former Commodores star reportedly owes over $1.1 million in unpaid taxes!

According to documents obtained by TMZ and E! News, Richie owes the federal government exactly $1,130,609.11 in unpaid income tax from 2010. The soul singer has been slapped with a lien, which means the government can start ceasing Richie's property if he fails to pay up!

Hopefully the success of Tuskegee, in addition to Richie's recurring adviser role on "The Voice" will help the music legend come up with the cash in a timely matter. Lionel is also set to star in the new reality competition show "Duets," along with Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles.
