Lil Wayne Refuses to Release ‘Tha Carter V’ Under Cash Money
With a reunion nowhere in sight, it appears that Wayne ousted any possibilities of linking back up with his longtime mentor when he appeared on Skip Bayless' show Undisputed, and said he had no interest in working with Birdman again. Now, according to TMZ, Wayne is holding Tha Carter V hostage from Cash Money Records.
Sources close to Birdman revealed that it isn't him who's preventing the release of Wayne's highly anticipated album, but Weezy himself. The reasoning behind Wayne's madness stems from his ongoing skirmish with Cash Money in court. He's using the album as leverage after suing the label back in 2014 for $51 million. During that time, he claimed that the label refused to release his album and failed to properly compensate him, Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga for their success on Young Money.
In addition to the whopping $51 million lawsuit, Wayne is also seeking $8 million in advanced money for his shelved endeavor. So as you can see, it makes sense for Wayne to keep the album snugged deep in his back pocket for leveraging purchases during his muddy lawsuit with Birdman. What honestly sucks about the entire situation is that we may never get the chance to hear Tha Carter V in its entirety, especially when he dished out quality singles like "Believe Me" and "Dusse."
