Lil Wayne Chants ‘Black Lives Matter’ and Disses Cash Money at Lil Weezyana Fest [VIDEO]
Lil Wayne returned home to New Orleans to perform at his 2nd annual Lil Weezyana Fest on Saturday (Aug. 27). The star-studded event, which included his Collegrove partner-in-rhyme 2 Chainz, featured plenty of surprises and sizzling hot performances.
According to NOLA.com, Chris Brown made a surprise cameo at the event thanks to Weezy bumping into him in Miami and inviting him to come down. The R&B singer entertained the crowd with a rendition of "Show Me" and a few other songs.
But the night was all about New Orleans. Former No Limit soldiers Mystikal and Fiend grabbed the mic, along with local legends the Showboys, Ms. Tee, and Young Greatness who all delivered hot sets. Rappers Yo Gotti, Rico Richie and Partners N Crime also performed while Weezy danced along with glee.
Later on, Wayne brought out 2 Chainz so they can perform tracks from their latest mixtape Collegrove much to the crowd's delight.
In a tender moment, Wayne stopped the show to remember Rudy and Josh Johnson, the two brothers of his ex-wife, Toya Wright, who were slain in New Orleans on July 31. "RIP Rudy and Josh," he reportedly told the crowd as he thanked his family for their support.
Another standout moment came midway in the show where Tunechi showed his support for the Black Lives Matter movement. He also made it clear how he felt about his former rap label, which he's currently fighting with legally in the courts.
"We are black America. Black lives matter. Clothes don't matter. Cars don't matter. Nothing else matters because black lives matter," he said, before adding "three more important words."
"F--- Cash Money," he said.
Before wrapping up the event, Lil Wayne dropped one more bold statement to the cheering New Orleanian crowd. "I am — I am — I am the best rapper alive!" he yelled.
