Lil’ Kim Slapped With $2.5M Lawsuit

Pint-sized rap diva Lil' Kim has been slapped with a $2.5 million lawsuit by recording company Brookland Media. The media company filed the lawsuit Tuesday in New York state Supreme Court alleging Kim failed to hold up her end of their contract. The rap star's lawyer, Londell McMillan, says Brookland Media filed the suit "to leverage their own position" in the ongoing contract dispute.

According to Brookland, they entered into a contact with Kim earlier this year and financed recording sessions, which included equipment and advance payments to the rapper. The lawsuit claims Kim tried to make changes to the contract and even ceased work on the an upcoming album after recording only a few tracks while under her new deal with Brookland.

The rapper ended her relationship with Atlantic Records in January. The diva called Atlantic home for more than 10 years before shopping around for another label and finally settling with the upstart that's now taking her to court.
