After 10 years of hard work, it’s finally paying off for Lecrae. The Atlanta-based rhymer nabbed his first certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. His latest effort, Anomaly, earned gold status for 500,000 copies sold in the U.S. on Aug. 26.

The album, which was released in September 2014, debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Gospel Album chart and his song “Messengers” won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song in February 2015.

Lecrae is having a lot of good fortune this year. The “All I Need Is You” rapper secured a distribution deal with Columbia Records for his label Reach Records.

“My personal philosophy is that success is not what you do compared to other people, success is what you do compared to what you were made to do,” Lecrae told XXL in a recent interview. “For me it’s just really trying to live in the moment, focus on what you doing and keep doing what you’re doing well. It felt great but I’m not really the type of person that sits in it and just revel in it. I’m like aight, what else we got to do, let’s keep moving.”

Lecrae is now working on his eighth studio album, which follows his Church Clothes 3 mixtape. He also appeared at the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards spitting truth to power about police and race relations in America. Most recently, Lecrae spoke out about the shooting death of Terence Crutcher by police.

Congratulations to Lecrae on his latest album achievement.
