Joseph Llanes for AOL

Coachella 2011 brought out of a slew of veteran artists this year, Lauryn Hill among them. While she's known to keep clear of the press these days and stick strictly to performing for fans, there is the rare moment when a good reporter or photographer can catch her during her downtime. Case in point, photographer Joseph Llanes, who snapped a candid shot of the 'Doo Wop (That Thing)' creator behind-the-scenes at the music festival for the BoomBox's sister site, Spinner.

"I ran into Lauryn Hill in back of the artist area at Coachella," Llanes tells the BoomBox. "I knew she wasn't doing any press, but I wanted to just introduce myself and tell her how much I enjoyed her show. She was extremely gracious to agree to give me a minute of her time for Spinner. I don't get ah-struck very often, but Ms. Hill has an incredible presence about her. Her show was one of my favorite performances at Coachella. I hope these string of performances is a sign we get to see a lot more of this amazing woman."

To satisfy her loyal supporters, and those who missed out on seeing the former Fugees member at Coachella, Hill's added 12 new dates to her Moving Target: Extended Intimate Playdate Series tour.
