Keri Hilson Apologizes for Amy Winehouse Tweet
Keri Hilson has officially been dubbed 'insensitive' by angered fans after publishing a tweet of her and a seemingly intoxicated woman that resembled Amy Winehouse, just hours before the late singer's funeral.
"*gasp* Amy Winehouse resurrected to party w/ me!!! (seriously, uncanny resemblance) http://twitpic.com/5w0mdy, " the R&B singer tweeted late Monday evening (July 25).
Although it was meant as a joke, the public reaction was almost immediate. Fans upset over the loss of Winehouse on July 23 retweeted the post over 100 times scrutinizing the 'Knock You Down' singer for her insensitive banter.
"Come on, I mean no harm. All due respect. But really the resemblance freaked me out. This was simply the best tribute ever. #RIPAMYWINEHOUSE," she added on Twitter.
In the wake, Hilson has now been accused of using Winehouse's tragic passing as a platform to draw attention to herself. Not a move that 'Twitterville' finds acceptable.
"I had no ill intent, but I understand how it appears insensitive...my bad twitterville. For real. Good night :)," she added.
Hopefully Hilson's 1.4 million Twitter followers will find a place to forgive her.
