After leaving a party thrown by Diddy last night (Feb. 24) at a Connecticut casino, rapper Jim Jones was mixed up in a brawl that got him maced and placed under arrest, TMZ.com reports.

Connecticut State Police spokesman J. Paul Vance has confirmed at least part of the story, telling the Associated Press that the 35-year-old MC was picked up at the Foxwoods Resort Casino and charged with assault on a police officer and breach of peace. He posted bond and was subsequently released.

While neither Jones nor the hotel have commented, a source tells TMZ that the trouble began as the Harlem rhymer was walking through the casino following Diddy's soiree at the MGM Grand.

A seemingly intoxicated -- and thus far unidentified -- man apparently approached Jones and became verbally abusive. The MC tried to let it slide, but when the man struck him in the face, the Dipset rhymer reportedly snapped into self-defense mode and hit him back.

That led others to jump into the melee, and just like that, TMZ reports, a "crazy brawl" was underway. The eyewitness claims it took five police officers and a spritz of mace to finally subdue Jones, who is said to have no idea what prompted the incident.
