JAY-Z’s ‘4:44’ No. 1 in 39 Countries on iTunes Chart
On The Blueprint 3, JAY-Z famously rapped, “10 No. 1 albums in a row, who better than me?” The rapper then followed up the feat with Watch the Throne and Magna Carta Holy Grail which both hit No. 1 as well.
While we still wait to see if Hov’s latest album, 4:44, will debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts, the album now sits atop of the iTunes chart in 39 different countries. Within 24 hours of being available on the Apple service, the record short up the charts around the world.
According to Roc Nation, 4:44 is No. 1 in the United States, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Switzerland, Russia, Sweden, South Africa, Malaysia, India, Panama, Sri Lanka, Anguilla, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Botswana, Ghana, Indonesia, Israel, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Trinidad and Tobago, Saudi Arabia, Mozambique, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Romania, Kazakstan, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The album has already been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America after RIAA Chairman and CEO Cary Sherman presented Jay with a plaque. “Props to JAY, he’s done it again!” said Sherman in a statement. “Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career.”
Like he did with MCHG, JAY-Z’s latest album went platinum in under seven days after the rapper teamed up with Sprint to release the album exclusively through Tidal for free. With the album now platinum, Jay has platinum albums than any other artist in RIAA history with 13.
