Jay-Z Teams With Stargate for New StarRoc Label
It's hard to believe Jay-Z can do anything without creating a huge buzz, but the hip-hop mogul has reportedly teamed up with Norwegian production duo Stargate and quietly launched the new record label, StarRoc.
The rapper, who's spent the bulk of his career as an artist -- and, eventually president of Def Jam Records -- abandoned his contract with the label back in December 2007 and snagged a $150 million deal with Live Nation that included financing for his imprint. Jay's new venture will develop fresh talent and, reportedly, include a music-publishing unit.
In other Jigga news, the rap superstar is scheduled to release his 11th studio album, 'The Blueprint 3,' in December.
