There's a big chance your Jan. 28 didn't go as great as J. Cole's did. The rapper spent the entire day winning.

His victories include having his Dreamville label imprint partner with Interscope Records, releasing a mixtape while expressing his gratitude to his fans and, last but far from least, receiving Jay Z's old Roc-A-Fella chain -- the man himself gave it to Cole at his birthday show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It was a pretty solid way for the 'Power Trip' rapper to turn 29.

J. Cole's Dreamville imprint, which is home to artists Bas, Omen and K Quick, was founded in 2007, and saw the release of J. Cole's first two albums. The partnership with Interscope is undoubtedly a big step for the 'Born Sinner' star.

"Dreamville celebrates the sort of grass roots, out-of-the-box approach to connecting artists to their fans that can help move the music industry into the future," said Joie Manda, Interscope's president of urban music, in a statement. "We are very pleased to welcome Dreamville into the Interscope family,"

'Revenge of the Dreamers,' Cole's new mixtape, also came with the announcement. He sent out a tweet -- his first in over a month -- to accompany the surprise.

A hard copy of the mixtape was waiting for fans in their seats at MSG when they came to watch him perform. A handwritten note from Cole informing them of the new label deal was also on the seats.

Kendrick Lamar shocked those in the room when he made a guest appearance at the show. But the big moment was when Cole received his mentor's lauded piece of jewelry. The North Carolina native's reaction to the gift is what many would've felt if they were in the same situation.
