2014 Grammy Nominations: Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore Receive Multiple Nods
Chart-topping rap superstars Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis garnered the most nominations for the 2014 Grammy Awards. Hov tops this year’s list with nine mentions, including Best Rap Album for 'Magna Carter...Holy Grail.'
Lamar and Macklemore both nabbed seven nominations apiece and will also compete against each other in the coveted Album of the Year category for 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' and 'The Heist,' respectively.
Justin Timberlake also also received seven nods, including Best Pop Duo/Performance for 'Suit & Tie' with Jay Z. Surprisingly, JT’s album, 'The 20/20 Experience,' which was the best-selling album of 2013, didn’t receive an Album of the Year mention.
Pharrell Williams also grabbed seven nominations mostly for his two collaborative hit singles: Daft Punk’s 'Get Lucky' and Robin Thicke’s 'Blurred Lines.'
Other multiple-nominated candidates include Drake with five nods, including Best Rap Album for 'Nothing Was the Same.' Singer-songwriter Bruno Mars nabbed four mentions. R&B artists Tamar Braxton and Robin Thicke received three mentions and Kanye West and Miguel garnered two nominations.
CBS will televise the 56th Annual Grammy Awards live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Jan. 26 at 8PM ET.
