Funkmaster Flex Apologizes to Nicki Minaj, Slams Cardi B for Using a Ghostwriter [VIDEO]
We all know that Funkmaster Flex wasn’t a fan of Nicki Minaj’s music, in fact, he called it “trash,” but now the Hot 97 radio personality has a change of heart.
During a chat on Instagram Live, Flex told his followers that he liked Minaj’s latest two singles, “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li.” The veteran DJ then went on and apologized to Minaj for calling her past music “trash.”
However, when the topic of Cardi B came up, Funkmaster Flex wasn't so kind to her. Flex says Cardi didn't write any of her rhymes on Privacy of Invasion album. As you may know, Funkmaster Flex doesn't respect any rapper who uses a ghostwriter. So for him, Cardi B is a no go. Flex also expressed his disappointment in the supposed ghostwriter's pen game -- essentially calling it trash.
Flex then added that he doesn't care what Cardi B or her fans think of him. "I don't care about your opinion when you don't write your rhymes," he said.
Funkmaster Flex's rant brings up the polarizing debate on whether or not a rapper should be respected if he or she uses a ghostwriter. Artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea have been accused of using ghostwriters in the past.
