Fat Joe Ends 50 Cent Beef: Dispute was like ‘Palestine & Israel’

In a recent interview with Cleveland's Z107.9 radio station, Fat Joe spoke candidly about deceased industry icon Chris Lighty and how the Violator founder inspired him to call off his longtime beef with 50 Cent.

Though the feuding MCs exchanged jabs on tracks like 50's "Piggy Bank" and Joe's "My Fofo," G-Unit and Terror Squad never came to blows, and finally came to terms during last weekend's BET Awards in Atlanta.

"To be honest with you, Chris Lighty saved my life. I used to hustle in the streets, big time. All the guys I hustled with doing 75 years in jail," Joe explained, of his mentor's influence. "He came to me, told me I could rap and gave me my record deal in the middle of the streets in the Bronx. So he literally saved my life. I would've never been anything if it wasn't for him."

Joe went on to say that taking the high road with 50 was ultimately the "mature route," likening their conflict to the Middle East.

"It was hard for me. This was like Palestine, Israel, B," the Bronx rapper explained. "But we still chose the mature route and said 'you know what, this beef ain't about nothin. So let's just move on, let's do it for Chris, and do it for hip-hop.'"
