Former Destiny's Child member Farrah Franklin is taking legal action against police following her arrest over the weekend.

As previously reported, Franklin was taken into custody early Saturday after dining out with friends in Culver City, Calif. Although official details have yet to be released, it was reported that the 29-year-old was intoxicated at the time of her arrest. According to Franklin, she was a victim of racial profiling at the hands of the Culver City Police Department.

"Unfortunately, I am the latest victim on what seems to be a growing list of those who are racially profiled and mistreated by Culver City Police," she told TMZ. "I was manhandled by the arresting officers. There were no female officers on duty and I was required to take off my top and treated unfairly."

"I am really upset about all that has taken place," she continued. "I have never had a run in with the law before Saturday. On Saturday I was not arrested, I was detained."

The singer also took to her Twitter page Monday (April 25) to announce that she would be taking legal action. "YES, I'm okay & YES there WILL be a lawsuit ! F--- da Culver City Police !!!! You cant keep a good girl down," she wrote. Franklin also cleared up any misperception about her motive for going public on the matter. "4 the record I'm NOT trying 2 get media press #KillYoSelfHaters ! Only a dumb person who DOES NOT know ME would say dumb s--- like that,SMH!"

At press time, Franklin did not respond to a request for comment.
