Fifteen years ago, the world witnessed one of the most horrific terrorist attacks on American soil. September 11, 2001 will forever live in infamy and for those who lost loved ones, it’s also a day for mourning.

As seen in previous years, the hashtag #NeverForget was a trending topic on social media as the world remembered the 15th anniversary of 9/11. Several artists went on Twitter and Instagram to pay their respects to the fallen heroes and civilians who perished on that fateful day.

Alicia Keys posted a picture on his Instagram account of two beaming lights on where the Twin Towers once stood in New York City. My beautiful city / Stronger than ever / Nothing can stop us / Stronger together / May Love, tolerance, and acceptance / Guide us forever," reads the caption.

Fabolous actually posted a photo of the Twin Towers on his IG page. He wrote in part, "Our city & country was forced to stand tall as those Towers once did & always remember the fallen soldiers of this day. The date 9/11 will always be symbolic to me for more reasons than one... My condolences go to the families affected by this tragic event."

Other artists went on Twitter to remember the lives that were lost in the New York City terrorist attack.

"RIP TO ALL THE FALLING ANGELS OF 911," tweeted Desiigner, while Diplo wrote, "Sad date to remember. But good to see nyc still even stronger than ever 15 years later."

Grammy Award-winning musician Robert Glasper tweeted, "Remembering those lost on 911..I was living in Brooklyn getting dressed to go to the airport when 1st plane hit."

Other rappers like Trinidad James, MC Hammer and Salt-N-Pepa paid homage to the 15th anniversary of Sept. 11. Check them out below.
