Eric Benet Claps Back at JAY-Z for His ‘4:44′ Line; Twitter Reacts With Jokes
While everyone is listening to JAY-Z’s new project 4:44, which is arguably the most talked about album on social media, folks are reacting to Eric Benét’s response to Hov’s line on “Kill JAY-Z.”
On the introspective track, Jay is killing off his ego, which has been very detrimental to his life and marriage to Beyoncé. It’s on that song he reveals that he cheated on his wife. “You almost went Eric Benét / Let the baddest girl in the world get away / I don't even know what else to say / N----, never go Eric Benét!”
For those who don’t know, back in 2003, Benét separated from his then-wife, Halle Berry, following reports that the singer cheated on the Oscar-winning actress. At that time, Benet was vilified for cheating on who is still arguably one of the most beautiful women in the world.
Benét caught wind of JAY-Z's line and responded on his Twitter account. He tweeted:
True indeed. Benét is happily married to Prince's ex-wife, Manuela Testolini, and they have two children together.
But Twitter saw the clap back and responded with jokes.
"Really #EricBenet your response was not needed now everybody bout to clown your ass even more, boy oh boy," tweeted one person.
Another person posted a dated photo of Halle and Eric together and wrote, "He had a point."
However, some have come to Benet's defense and chastised fans for being petty with their memes and remarks.
"I think #EricBenet is doing just fine. Wifey [Manuela Testolini] is an entrepreneur/humanitarian. Family is stunning! Some ppl can't get past #pettiness," tweeted one user.
