It’s official! Eric B. & Rakim will reunite and perform their first concert in over 20 years. The occasion is for the 30th anniversary of their landmark 1987 debut album, Paid in Full. The rap duo will perform the album in its entirety at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, N.Y., on July 7.

On Thursday (June 22), Eric B. and Rakim appeared via phone on Ebro in the Morning to talk about their reunion concert. But first, they paid their respects to Prodigy who passed away earlier this week.

"I had a lot of respect for Prodigy," said Rakim. "He brought the hood to the booth; he was one of the cats I respected. [He] was one of the kings of the hood in this rap game."

Eric B. was at the Las Vegas show where Mobb Deep performed. The veteran DJ said that Prodigy didn't look like he was sick. After their performance, Prodigy wasn't feeling well, and despite his sickness, he still took pictures for fans backstage.
"It was a great show, great energy," said Eric B.

As for their reunion show, Eric B. & Rakim described it as a "celebration for hip-hop."

Eric B. & Rakim separated in 1992 after the release of their album, Don’t Sweat the Technique. And since this is a "one-night only" affair, this is a concert you don't want to miss. Tickets will go on sale this Friday (June 23) at the apollotheater.com.
