Drake's debut album 'Thank Me Later,' is on track to becoming the second hip-hop record to go platinum this year, following Eminem's 'Recovery.' But last week, the Toronto emcee prematurely thanked fans for helping his album hit the one million sales mark.

"Thank you to everyone who allowed us to go platinum on a debut album! WOW," Drake wrote on Thursday (July 22) via Twitter. 'Thank Me Later' scored platinum success in Canada during its debut week, but the album still hasn't broken the 900K mark Stateside, currently peaking at approximately 850,000 units sold.

In its debut week, 'Thank Me Later' landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 447,000 copies and cementing itself as the third-best first week sales of the year. The album's first single 'Over,' climbed to No. 1 and No. 2 on the Rap and R&B/Hip-Hop charts, while 'Find Your Love' charted in the top five on Billboard's Hot 100. The Lil Wayne-featured video for the album's third single, 'Miss Me,' is set to debut in the coming weeks.

Drake will kick of his 'The Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour' in Miami on September 21.
