Drake on ‘Chelsea Lately': Denies Nicki Minaj Romance

Drake is known for his honesty, and as he both discussed and demonstrated on a recent episode of the E! talk show 'Chelsea Lately,' that quality sometimes gets him into trouble.

First, the mega-selling Canadian hip-hop phenom fessed up to drinking white wine spritzers backstage. When host Chelsea Handler gave him gruff, he explained that he became fond of the drink as a teenager, when he became infatuated with one of his mother's "voluptuous" friends.

"It had everything to do with big breasts and wine," Drake told Handler.

"Doesn't it always?" Handler replied.

Later in the interview, the Young Money signee and former TV star explained that his autobiographical songwriting can sometimes "make for an awkward room," especially when he's in the company of ladies he's sung or rapped about.

While Handler downplayed the potential awkwardness, positing that anyone he's still hanging out with probably doesn't get dissed too badly in his songs, Drake revealed he has "relapsing issues with exes."

One female he says is not an ex, but rather a friend and musical collaborator, is Nicki Minaj.

"There were rumors you were hitting that," Handler said, trying to get a rise out of the rapper.

Drake denied it, but that didn't stop the comedian from giving the pair her blessing.

"I'm very happy about both of your success," she said. "I think that you're very talented, as does everyone, and Nicky as well. So if you guys end up together, I can support that."
